The American Asthma Foundation Research Program is supported by the generous gifts from foundations, individuals and others whose commitment to basic research allows discovery to happen. Contributions of more than $100 million have supported innovative asthma research grants since 2000.
Sandler Foundation established the national asthma grants program in 2000 and is its principal supporter. The William K. Bowes, Jr. Foundation and John A. and Cynthia Fry Gunn are also major supporters.
The Research Program has also received donations from countless others, including national and regional public charities and foundations, individuals making memorial or tribute donations on behalf of others, and individuals participating in federal or state employee workplace campaigns. We have recently made a strategic decision not to actively solicit funds from the general public and instead to focus all our energies on the innovative asthma research we pursue with the generous support of a small number of major contributors.
We thank all of you who have contributed to the Program. Your support has enabled outstanding scientists to pursue cutting-edge ideas that we expect will result in new therapies to improve the lives of the millions of people who live with asthma.
